This is not the first time AI has entered the digital signage workflow. Broadsign's campaign planning tools already use AI for optimisation. The distinction matters. AI-powered content generation adoption is accelerating: only 8.3% of digital signage operators currently use AI for content production, but 46.2% say they plan to within a year, according to Kitcast's 2026 operator survey (N=515). That's not a niche experiment. It's a mainstream adoption curve, and the numbers are moving fast.
The practical effect for a signage operator is this: where they previously spent hours or days producing content — scripting, editing, localising, quality-checking — an AI agent now handles the entire workflow inside the CMS. The content pipeline, which was the defensible moat for many CMS vendors, has collapsed into a text box.
What This Means for the Display Business
The display hardware business has always fed on content. Screens need something to show. The bigger and more complex the deployment, the more content production it requires. If content becomes cheap and instant, the value proposition of the display shifts:

The displays that will matter most are the ones that can react — to weather, to foot traffic, to inventory levels — because reactive content is only useful if it's also well-designed.
